Sharks Sign Malek Green
The Sheffield Sharks have announced the signing of Malek Green for the remainder of the 2023-24 British Basketball League season.
The 24-year-old forward, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, adds depth and size to the Sharks’ line-up, strengthening the team’s prospects in competitive league play.
Green started his NCAA collegiate career at Morehead State Eagles and continued on with stints at the Canisius Golden Griffins and Youngstown State Penguins. This is Malek's first campaign as a professional where he began the season in topflight Luxembourg with Sparta Bertrange, there he averaged 30.5 points a game along with 10.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists.
Malek is looking forward to getting started in Sheffield, “I’m really happy to be here and to be given the opportunity to play for the Sharks. I have heard great things about the organisation and the league and look forward to settling in with the team.”
Sharks Head Coach Atiba Lyons expressed his excitement with the addition of Green, stating, “Malek brings additional presence and size that will further enhance our roster. We feel that he will be a quality addition to the squad and look forward to seeing his debut out there on the court.”
