The British Forward will return for the club’s 20th anniversary season, competing in the newly-formed Super League and European North Basketball League.
Thomas-Edwards first joined the Flyers in 2019, following a standout year with NBL Division One side Leicester Warriors. He earned a spot in the NBL Division One Team of the Year after averaging 23 points and 14.5 rebounds per game.
He returned to the WISE Campus last season as club captain, following a year-long spell as an assistant coach to German Women’s side TK Hannover, where he led the Lynx to the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL) Trophy and were playoff runners up.
Last season Thomas-Edwards made 35 appearances for the Flyers and averaged 6.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
On returning to Bristol for his fifth season with the Flyers, Thomas-Edwards said: “There wasn’t really a decision process. This summer was more about preparing to come to back instead of deciding if I wanted to come back. Bristol is home for me now and I hope one day to retire with the club.
“The programme has improved every single year and it’s a blessing to be a part of it.
“I realise the importance of building a consistent core group of players to be successful and I want to be able to provide even more success for Coach Kapoulas’ 20th anniversary season, which will be a historic milestone.” Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added: “We’re really pleased to see Raph return for his fifth season with the club.
“There was an adjustment period for him last season to return to playing after a year off, but as we approached the last couple of months, it was great to see him playing at a consistent level.
“We will be looking for him to build on that and produce one of the best seasons of his career.”
