Owen McCormack pens new Bristol Flyers deal
Owen McCormack has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal with the Bristol Flyers.
The 6’9” sharpshooter will return for his second season with the club - becoming the first player to commit to Andreas Kapoulas’ 2025/26 roster.
McCormack made 32 league appearances for the Flyers last season and averaged 6.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, whilst shooting 33% from behind the three point line.
Speaking on his decision to return to the club, McCormack said: “Landing on the Flyers was a perfect spot for me as a rookie. The fans, the volunteers, the coaches and backroom staff were amazing and I can’t wait to see what year two has in store.
"Speaking about this coming season gets me really excited. I think we learnt a lot as individuals and as a group that will allow us to become more consistent moving forwards.
“Individually, I felt like I had started to show what I am capable of in the league and I’m very excited to build upon that."
Prior to joining the Flyers, McCormack enjoyed a successful five-year college career, spending four seasons at Presbyterian College in the Big South Conference, where he earned an All-Academic team selection in 2021, achieved the Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year award in 2022 and was named Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the year in 2023.
He transferred to Lipscombe for his fifth season of eligibility, where he averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game and helped the Bisons to a second place finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference during the 2023/24 campaign.
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said: "We’re really pleased to have Owen back with us for another year.
"He made great strides in his development last season and showed that he can be a real asset at both ends of the floor.
"Owen brings versatility, size, smart play and a growing confidence that fits well with the identity that we’re building here in Bristol.
"We’re excited to see how he continues to grow and contribute to the team this coming season.”
