Leicester Riders Sign Tomiwa Sulaiman for 2025/26 Season
Leicester Riders have confirmed the signing of British forward Tomiwa Sulaiman ahead of the 2025/26 Super League Basketball season.
The 6’6” London-born forward joins the club after two impressive seasons at Towson University in NCAA Division I, where he averaged 7.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in his senior year. He started 27 of 33 games, shooting nearly 40% from the field and finishing second on the team in both steals and three-point percentage.
Prior to Towson, Sulaiman starred at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (NCAA Division II), where he earned PSAC West Freshman of the Year in 2022 and First Team All-Conference honours in 2023. During his time at IUP, he won back-to-back state championships and built a strong collegiate resume before transferring to Towson, where he played alongside former Riders forward Charles Thompson.
Sulaiman also had a notable junior career in the UK before heading to college. He represented Great Britain at both U16 and U18 levels, playing alongside NBA draftee Amari Williams and former Rider Hosanna Kitenge. In 2019, he was selected as the #2 overall prospect out of the UK at the prestigious Deng Camp and later went on to be named MVP of the 2019 Hoopsfix All-Star Classic.
Coach Rob Paternostro said “We are thrilled to have Tomiwa signed to our club for next season. He trained with us a few years ago before he went to the USA, and we really liked him then. He is a versatile player who was impressive in college, where he showed improvement every season.
We love his ability to make plays both inside the paint and from the perimeter — he is the type of player who can hurt you in many ways. His rebounding and defence will be a welcome addition to our team. He can guard multiple positions and does a great job of combining strength and athleticism with intelligence on that end of the floor.”
Sulaiman added “It’s an honour to join a club with the history and success of the Riders. I love the way they play and can’t wait to get started in front of the Leicester fans.”
This signing strengthens the Riders' roster as they look to build on last season’s Playoff Final victory and push for more silverware in 2025/26.
