Flyers complete signing of GB International Evan Walshe
The 26-year-old guard is entering his fifth season in the domestic top-flight and joins the Flyers on a one-year deal.
Walshe began his professional career with the Surrey Scorchers during the 2020/21 season, where he quickly built a reputation as one of the most exciting young British players in the country.
He enjoyed a six month stint in Spain before returning to the UK for a two-year spell with the Leicester Riders, where he was a part of the treble-winning squad that won the League, Cup and Playoff championships during the 2021/22 season.
Last season, Walshe made 34 league appearances for the Manchester Giants, where he averaged 11.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, which led to a Great Britain Senior Men’s call-up for the recent Subway Summer Slam and the 3x3 Europe Cup, where he helped the team reach the Quarter-Finals.
Speaking on his decision to join the Flyers, Walshe said: "I’m really excited to be a part of the Flyers. Coach Kapoulas and I have had a working relationship for a number of years - he was my Assistant Coach with GB at Under-20 level and we’ve worked together this summer in the senior men’s set-up too.
"We had a number of conversations over the off-season and it was clear that his ambition for the Flyers to compete at the highest level matched my ambitions as a player.
"Playing against the Flyers at SGS was always a tough task as a player. The fans are behind the team every single game, they always have great energy and I can’t wait to play on the other side of that now.
"I think the Flyers fans can look forward to seeing a new and improved version of myself. I’m ready to give 100% every time I step out on the floor and I feel at a point in my career where I'm confident in my game and what I can bring to the team."
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas added: "Evan is a talented British player that has experience in our league and joins us off a strong season last year in Manchester.
"He continues to develop his game and it’s been a pleasure to work with him this summer with the GB National Team.
"He is physical, smart, and a constant paint-touch threat that competes on both ends of the floor. We are excited to welcome him to our club.”
