Flyers add Owen McCormack to 2024/25 roster
Bristol Flyers have acquired Owen McCormack from Lipscomb University to their 2024/25 roster.
The 6’9” forward, who holds a British passport, has signed his first professional contract with the Flyers and becomes Coach Kapoulas’ second new recruit ahead of the upcoming campaign.
McCormack started in all 32 games last season for the Bisons and averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game on 44.7% shooting from the field and 35.3% from behind the three-point line. His efficient numbers helped Lipscomb to a second-place finish in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a record of 20-12.
Speaking on his decision to join the Flyers, McCormack said: "I'm really happy for the opportunity. I've been watching a bunch of Flyers games online and it seems like a great place for me to start my professional career
"I talked to coach for what was meant to be a 10-15 minute introduction call and we ended up talking for nearly an hour. We had a great conversation and I found out everything about Bristol and how much the club is involved with the community, so that was that was a really big thing for me.
"Coach wants me to come in as a stretch big on the team this season. I’m a high IQ player that was known for my shooting ability in college, but I can also use my height inside to create scoring opportunities for my teammates.
"I look forward to meeting the Flyers family and can’t wait to get started."
Prior to his season-long spell at Lipscomb University, McCormack enjoyed four successful seasons at Presbyterian College in the Big South Conference. He earned an All-Academic team selection in 2021, achieved the Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Year award in 2022 and was named Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2023.
Flyers Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas said: “We are excited to add Owen to our roster for the upcoming season.
“He had a tremendous year for Lipscomb last season, making a big impact on both ends of the court with his high basketball IQ and feel for the game.
“He has great size, skill and versatility to his game and his physicality and ability to stretch the floor, attack down low and see things before they happen will be of great value to our team.
“We had a great first conversation and had some incredible feedback from his college coaches, who loved him for his on and off-the-court attitude and team-first mentality. We look forward to working with him this coming season.”
